Maggie is  a Textile and Mixed Media Artist living and working in Colchester.
She began her career studying Embroidery and Design at the London College of Fashion before qualifying as a teacher. Maggie then went on to take a Foundation Degree in Art and Design and a further BA (Hons) Degree in 3D Art and Design. Maggie has subsequently taught a wide range of art and craft disciplines to children and adults both in mainstream education, including City and Guilds accredited courses, and private workshops.

Maggie also maintains her own studio where she creates artwork for exhibitions, private commissions and for sale at various art and craft venues.

"I mostly  work in 2D relief and 3D. My studio work is contemporary and incorporates a rich array of materials, but primarily I craft using fabric, thread and paper. Wherever possible I like to use recycled products and I am adept at spotting the potential in abandoned objects.

Inspired by the never-ending range of subject matter found in nature, mostly related to the life cycle of   growth and decay, wild and cultivated,  the style of my work tends to be flowing, curvaceous and organic in design. My art work incorporates delicate lacy structures as well as more solid forms to reveal the sensuality of all substance.”

Maggie is also an experienced speaker visiting groups and organisations, including art groups, W.I. and luncheon groups, delivering an insight, spoken and visual, of her varied art work.  Inspired by the examples of the art work shown during the talk, organisers frequently request follow up workshops for the members, which Maggie will run at the premises where they meet.

The workshops feature:  textiles, sculpture and tissue paper painting

Workshops are also held mainly in Braintree and Colchester
