Weekly Class Schedule Weeks 1-6: 2D Relief Textile Landscapes
The schedule is written as a general guide to the processes being covered. Students will work at varying rates;  flexibility for this is allowed for within the programme

General equipment:
Some materials and equipment will be available for you to use/purchase each week
But please bring a basic kit of items each week to include:
paper, pencil, rubber, ruler, tracing paper
embroidery frame/s, needles, scissors, pins, sewing threads, fabrics, water transferable pens

Weeks 1-6     you can book weeks 1-6 at a cost of £75.00
Media -machine embroidery
Subject – landscapes, 2D relief
Methods- use of paint, free and straight foot machine embroidery,  hand embellishment, textile construction

I will have materials to sell and some materials and equipment for you to use. A more detailed list of things you will need will be posted before the course starts. Below is a guideline of what will be required:

One or more photos/prints of landscapes.
Plain white paper or a sketch book, cartridge or watercolour paper minimum 150GSM, soft and hard pencil, rubber, ruler, tracing paper, paper cutting scissors, masking tape, tracing paper, squared or graph paper, glue, glue brush
Needles, scissors, pins, sewing threads, fabrics, water transferable pens. Small pieces of fabrics and threads, decorative papers
Acrylic or water colour paints,  fine brushes
Sewing machine, machine threads

Week 1
Tuesday January 10th
How to stylise and prepare a design from a photograph ready to be worked in textiles
Transfer the design to cartridge or water colour paper
Choose colour scheme

Week 2
Tuesday January 17th
Decide on techniques, colours, paint, fabrics and threads to be used for each ‘layer’ of the landscape
Practise techniques

Week 3, 4 and 5
January 24th, 31st, February 7th
Work on layers 1-4 of landscape

Week 6
Tuesday February 14th
Construction and framing


Weekly class schedule weeks 7-10 Textile Sculpture
You can book weeks 6-10 at a cost of £50.00
Dates for the course: February 28th, March 7th, 14th, 21st
